The S. Daukantas Shed in Kalviai village, Skuodas district, is a significant site of Lithuanian cultural heritage, commemorating the life and work of the enlightener and the first historian who wrote in Lithuanian, Simonas Daukantas. In this shed where S. Daukantas was born in 1793, a memorial museum has been established with restored interior details that symbolize the peasants' lifestyle and simplicity. In 1981, the shed was renovated—new walls were built, a reed roof was installed, and two exhibitions were set up inside. The first exhibition introduces visitors to S. Daukantas's creative work and activities, his contributions to the collection

and dissemination of Lithuanian folklore, while the second exhibition is dedicated to the works of his compatriot and colleague Jurgis Pabrėža. In the yard of the shed stands a memorial stone, marking the birthplace of the first historian who wrote and published books in the Lithuanian language. The S. Daukantas Literary Prize, awarded biennially for fictional works on historical themes, continues to honor his legacy and contribution to literature. In this memorial museum, visitors can view exhibits from the Lenkimai area and engage in a virtual tour, providing a deeper insight into the heritage of history and ethnography.
