The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Šventežeris, built in 1882, has deep historical roots. The first church here was established in 1598 when the Radziwiłł family constructed a house of worship for the Evangelical Reformed community. In 1663, it became a Catholic church. Under the care of Karolis Radziwiłł, a new wooden structure was erected in 1746, and in 1783, the church was rebuilt at the initiative of Count Tiškevičius. Unfortunately, the church burned down in 1865, but temporary places of worship were constructed within a month, which also burned down in 1871. The current church, created from a chapel rebuilt in 1822, was completed in 1882 and features a unique neoclassical style. It has become an important example of sacred architecture in the region, a tourist attraction, and a historical monument.
