Juozas Slavikas, born in 1904 in Budiškiai village, Marijampolė district, was a partisan and rifleman. In the early years of independent Lithuania, he fought against Polish aggression, joining the Riflemen's Union. Slavikas was part of the first partisan group in the Neutral Zone. On June 17, 1922, during an expedition to Varviškės village, he used 200 rounds of ammunition to fight the enemy before being captured and brutally tortured. Slavikas was buried in the Šventežeris parish cemetery and posthumously awarded the Riflemen's Star Order in 1931.

Antanas Gritėnas, born in 1894 in Petriškiai village, was a Lithuanian Army volunteer and a policeman. He joined the army in 1920 and became a police station head. In 1928, he was recognized as a creator of the Lithuanian Army and received several awards, including the Independence 10th Anniversary Medal. In 1934, he became the victim of a criminal act.
