On February 2, 1948, decisive battles occurred against the Chekist army, during which partisans from the Dainava district's Šarūnas battalion, affiliated with the Mindaugas battalion, were killed. In this battle, which became a significant part of Lithuanian partisan history, Pranas Nedzinskas-Spindulys, born in 1925, and Juozas Vabuolas-Stipruolis, born in 1931, lost their lives.
