On September 7, 1952, a battle took place at the homestead of Antanas Valiukevičius in Babrų Village against NKVD soldiers, led by the commanders of the Kaunas MGB 2N Directorate and the Lazdijai MGB division. The partisans of the Dainava district's Šarūnas battalion from the Mindaugas constituency, who were betrayed by a partisan with the alias Jaunuolis, suffered tragic losses. Among the fallen were the commander of the constituency, Juozas Gudeliauskas-Drąsuolis, born in Laibagaliai village, as well as the leader of the First Squad, Juozas Krivickas-Viesulas from Šarkiškiai village, and the leader of the Second Squad, Jonas Jutkevičius-Bajoras, originally from Šventežeris. These partisans had been fighting for Lithuania's freedom since 1948.
