In 2018, to commemorate the centennial of the restoration of the Lithuanian state and honor the participants of the struggle for independence, it was decided to erect a monument in the main square of Jieznas dedicated to three generations of volunteer soldiers. This monument pays tribute to the volunteers of the 1918–1920 struggle for independence, the partisans of the armed anti-Soviet resistance from 1944–1953, and the volunteer soldiers who joined the National Defense since 1990.

This monument pays tribute to the volunteers of the 1918–1920 struggle for independence, the partisans of the armed anti-Soviet resistance from 1944–1953, and the volunteer soldiers who joined the National Defense since 1990. On February 10, 2021, Colonel Dainius Pašvenskas, the Commander of the National Defense Volunteer Forces, Alvydas Vaicekauskas, the Mayor of Prienai District, Algis Bartusevičius, the Senior of Jieznas, and the monument's author, Nerijus Treinys, signed a letter for future generations. This letter was placed in a capsule
and buried in the foundation of the monument. The monument, symbolizing three lowered swords, was unveiled on June 23, 2021, in the Jieznas Independence Square. The swords symbolize the spirit of warrior soldiers and urge readiness to defend the country's independence once again. The unveiling ceremony was attended by high-ranking guests, including the Chief of Defense of Lithuania, General Valdemaras Rupšys, and Member of the Seimas, retired Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius. The project was funded by volunteer soldiers and the Lithuanian public. The Prienai District Municipality renovated the Jieznas Independence Square and adapted it for visitors, while Colonel Vaidas Vasiliauskas, the Commander of the Darius and Girėnas Battalion of the Lithuanian Army, organized the monument's construction.
