The Gojaus Oak, located in Gojaus Forest within the Stakliškės Municipality of Prienai District, is a remarkable and impressive monumental tree. This historic oak is unique due to its age and appearance.
The oak is easily accessible via the A16 road from Vilnius to Prienai to Marijampolė. Travel approximately 3.4 km west from Stakliškės (towards Jieznas) and turn south at the sign for “Gojaus miškas 1 km” (Gojaus Forest 1 km). An informational signboard is placed near the oak, with the single homestead of Pakrovai village (a brick-built old house) visible nearby. A wooden path leads to the tree,
and decorative wooden signs and sculptures created by folk artists are positioned around it.
This oak is still alive, though slightly affected by rot. It is approximately 400 years old. Throughout its long life, it has withstood a lightning strike and now splits into two trunks at a height of 14 meters. It is believed to be the largest tree in Lithuania.
How to get there: The Gojaus Oak is easily reachable via the A16 road from Vilnius to Prienai to Marijampolė. After traveling approximately 3.4 km west from Stakliškės (towards Jieznas), turn south at the sign for “Gojaus miškas 1 km.”
