Degsnės Larch Grove – The Tallest and Most Productive Forest in Lithuania Larches, known for their impressive appearance and height, have long been favored by Lithuanian foresters. Although this species naturally grew in Lithuania in the past, it is now found only in planted form. Degsnės Larch Grove, established over 150 years ago, is a
prime example of how planted trees can evolve into natural beauty and a valuable resource. Currently, the tallest larch in this forest reaches an impressive height of 49 meters. In spring, Degsnės Larch Grove is particularly beautiful as the larches begin to unfurl their delicate, green needles. In autumn, the forest transforms into an oasis of golden hues, as the needles turn vibrant colors and fall onto the forest floor, creating a stunning visual display. Degsnės Larch Grove is also the most productive forest in Lithuania in terms of timber volume per hectare, despite not being used for commercial forestry and being protected as a natural asset. This reflects the significant biological and ecological potential of the forest.
