The Papilio Reformed Evangelical parish is one of the oldest and historically significant Reformed Evangelical parishes in Lithuania. It is first mentioned in historical sources as early as 1593. The parish belonged to the famous Radziwiłł family of the Dukes of Biržai-Dubingiai, on whose lands the notable duke Jonušas Radziwiłł was born. The current church, located in the town of Papilio, was built in 1785. During World War II, it was heavily damaged, but thanks to the efforts of Pastor Mykolas Frankas, it was successfully restored in 1947. This parish is not only a historical but also a cultural treasure of the Biržai region, attracting both tourists and history enthusiasts.
