Built in 1909, the church was funded by merchant I. Markov, who allocated 5,000 rubles for its construction. At that time, around 50 Russian families lived in the region and donated a plot of land for the church, while the Tsarist government contributed by providing timber. In 1924, the church had about 150 parishioners, who were spiritually cared for by a priest from Gegabrasta. Nikolai Krukovsky served in the church until his death in 1954, after which a priest from Rokiškis visited monthly.
