The Bukantė manor of the Plater family is known as the birthplace and childhood home of the eminent Lithuanian literary classic, known by her pen name Žemaitė, whose real name was Julija Beniuševičiūtė-Žymantienė. Today, her birthplace hosts a memorial exhibition that showcases various historical and ethnographic artifacts, personal items of the writer, publications, and photographs. Additionally, traditional celebrations of the writer’s birthday are held here.
Furthermore, the restored granary on the manor's
grounds features a memorial exhibition dedicated to Stanislovas Riauba, highlighting the works of one of the most prominent folk artists of Žemaitija. Another restored barn displays the sacred heritage of the Plungė region, including traditional Žemaitijan sun-crosses and sculptures of saints.
To delve deeper into the culture of Žemaitija, educational activities such as "Exploring Žemaitijan Culinary Heritage" are offered, allowing visitors to not only hear about but also taste the flavors of the region.
