When traveling from Kupiškis to Utena, make sure to stop by and take a walk on the "Into the Forest" educational trail in the Šimoniai Forest. To reach it, turn off the main road towards Šimonys and continue driving about 4.5 km through forest roads after passing the town. To ensure tourists do not get lost, wooden signposts and arrows are installed. The trail is short, only about 1.4 km, making it perfect for parents with young children or students. Along the educational trail, you will find pavilions, a fire pit, benches, informational stands, and educational games for children.

The Šimoniai Forest is home to wildlife such as moose, deer, wild boar, foxes, hares, wolves, and more. Among the protected species, you can spot the black stork and the lesser spotted eagle. The forest is rich in mushrooms, medicinal plants, and berries. The educational trail borders the Iženo Telmological Reserve, where visiting is prohibited from April 1st to August 1st to protect the habitat.
