The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located in the village of Palėvenėlė in Kupiškis District, near the Kupiškis Reservoir, was built in 1803 by the estate owner Kazimieras Moigis on the site of a burned-down chapel. Records of parish registries began in 1851. The church underwent renovations in 1910, suffered damage during World War I, but was later restored.

In 1926, Palėvenėlė was granted parish status, and the first pastor, Antanas Pauliukonis, revitalized the church and its surroundings. Subsequent priests continued the restoration, renewing the towers, altars, church furnishings, and auxiliary buildings.

The church is a Classicist structure with Baroque elements, designed in a hall style (18.8 x 10.3 m), with a single nave, two small towers, and three altars. The churchyard is enclosed by a stone wall, with a belfry built in 1803 at its gates. This church is a culturally and architecturally significant heritage site.
