The Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Nemenčinė stands as a witness to significant historical events and notable personalities, making it a valuable cultural heritage site in Lithuania. Its history dates back to the riches donated by Vytautas the Great, which were confirmed in 1525. In the mid-16th century, this sanctuary was exceptionally wealthy, possessing 81 peasant homesteads. However, history took its toll: the church was destroyed by the Moscow army in 1655, rebuilt in 1680, destroyed again during the Great Northern War, and rebuilt after 1712. At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, a parish school operated here, and the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary was established in 1775.
