Kubiliai Hillfort (Birutkalnis), dating from the 1st millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium, is located on a promontory at the confluence of the left bank of the Dubysa River and the right bank of the Gryžuva River. The hillfort is also known by the name Papušynis. It is situated on a separate large hill on the bank of an unnamed stream. The platform is rectangular, elongated in the north-south direction, measuring 120×87 meters, with the southern and western parts being up to 3 meters higher. The slopes are steep, 8-20 meters high, except for the northwestern slope, which is gentle and only 2 meters high. Kubiliai Hillfort is the largest in the Kelmė district, but it has suffered damage: it has been eroded by plowing, overgrown with planted spruces and pines, and the northeastern part of the platform is grass-covered.
