Visitors to the Curonian Spit National Park can now enjoy the new 1.1 km Parnidis Dune Nature Trail and reach the famous dune via much more convenient stairs. The trail leads up the slope of the dune towards the observation deck, and from the wooden pathway, you can enjoy excellent landscape panoramas from four viewing platforms.
The trail begins at the Neringa Sports School and ends at the Sundial. Along this stretch, there are 22 benches of various shapes, an interactive artistic feature called "Build the Dune," markers indicating the boundaries of the Parnidis Reserve, and six informational stands about the uniqueness and history
of the landscape.
Park visitors with strollers (both for children and the disabled) can use the trail from the beginning up to the stairs. Unfortunately, there is no special adaptation for wheelchairs yet. Bicycle traffic is restricted throughout the trail. Currently, there is one bike locking station, but more are expected to be added in the future.
The Parnidis Landscape Reserve features an aesthetically valuable landscape, highlighted by the dune ridge planted with mountain pines in the north and sand dunes in the south. This is the only place in the national park where a chain of shifting dunes has survived to this day.
