Erected in 1989-1990, St. Michael the Archangel Church in the town of Gargždai is a prime example of postmodern architecture. The church, with its height of 22 meters, is dominated by a 53-meter-high tower, proudly featuring a clock gifted by the Lithuanian community in Australia. This sacred building not only represents architectural diversity but also bridges different historical eras—from the late 18th century to the present day.
Within the churchyard, historical remnants such as the stone bell tower built in the 19th century, a Neoclassical chapel, and pre-war wooden religious structures bear witness to the strong community spirit and its connection to the past. The surrounding brick fence, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, symbolizes the area's cultural and historical heritage.
