Already in the 16th century, Dusmenys Church was mentioned in the visitation records of the churches of the Vilnius Diocese. However, with the spread of the Reformation, the Catholic Church was abolished. In 1667, the Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Kristupas Zigmantas Pacas, donated the Dusmenys estate to the Pažaislis Camaldolese Monastery. In 1820, the Camaldolese monks built the present wooden church in the middle of the old cemetery. The church had two spires and four altars. Between 1883 and 1885, the churchyard was enclosed with a masonry fence covered with shingles, and a bell tower was built. In 1904, on the initiative of the Dusmenys parish priest and book smuggler, Fr. Stanislovas Šlamas, organist Jonas Petrauskas, the father of the famous Mikas and Kipras Petrauskas, was invited. J. Petrauskas, along with his sons and other musicians, formed the Dusmenys Church Orchestra. In 1937, Mikas Petrauskas was buried next to his parents in the churchyard. The remains of the long-serving parish priest and dean, Stanislovas Smolinskas (1889-1975), also rest in the churchyard. Between 1965 and 1967, thanks to Father Marijonas Petkevičius, the church was renovated.
Dusmenys Church of St. Apostles Simon and Jude Thaddeus is of Classical style with features of folk architecture. The single-volume, square-plan, three-nave church ends with a three-sided apse. The half-hipped roof is covered with metal sheets, with a small tower
above the trapezoidal pediment. A small two-tiered octagonal tower is topped with a dome and an ornate cross. There is an onion-shaped pedestal with a cross above the apse. The main facade features a portico that protrudes forward, supported by four columns on pedestals. The portico is separated from the pediment by a small roof. In the center of the pediment is a square window. The church's windows are arched with moldings, except for the main facade, which has a square two-part window with moldings. The stout silhouette of the church is further emphasized by horizontal cladding.
The church's interior is adorned with three wooden altars. In the main altar hang paintings related to the Camaldolese, created in the 18th century: "St. Romuald" and "The Blessed Virgin Mary with Child." The painting of the church's patrons, St. Apostles Simon and Jude Thaddeus, hangs in the presbytery.
The church bell tower is square and two-tiered. The upper tier is smaller and separated from the lower tier by a small roof. The bell tower is covered with a pyramidal metal roof with a massive cross. The windows of the upper tier, like those of the church, are arched with moldings. The bell tower is clad with horizontally arranged planks. Wide double doors lead to it.
The churchyard fence is made of stone masonry with massive arched gates. The gates have a gable roof, with a niche in the pediment containing a painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
