The Ginučiai Hillfort with its settlement is a state-protected historical monument. It is located in the Linkmenai eldership, 1.3 km south of Ginučiai, between Lake Linkmenas and Lake Ūkojas. The hillfort is situated on a large, steep slope covered with trees. The eastern and western slopes are 16-20 meters high, while the other slopes are lower and more gentle. Remnants of terraces can be found on the slopes. The summit's oval-shaped platform is 45 meters long in the north-south direction and 30 meters wide. The northern and southern edges of the platform have remnants of flattened ramparts and filled-in ditches.

ramparts and filled-in ditches. At the western foot of the hillfort, there are remains of an ancient settlement. The cultural layer has been preserved, with findings of handmade, corded, and rough ceramics, as well as wheel-thrown pottery decorated with parallel line ornaments. The Ginučiai and nearby Papiliakalnė hillforts are identified with the 13th-15th century Linkmenys Castle, which was part of the central Lithuanian defense system. It was a crucial point in the 14th-15th century defense against the Livonian Order, protecting an ancient trade route to the Daugava River.
