Burial Mound Exhibit and Stone Age Dwelling

The Ignalina district and the territory of the Aukštaitija National Park are rich with ancient burial sites known as burial mounds.
The Palūšė exhibit is based on findings from one of these burial mounds. The model represents a Bronze Age (5th-6th century) burial site. Next to it stands a reconstruction of a Stone Age dwelling based on archaeological finds from the Kretuonas area. The settlements discovered in the Kretuonas area are considered the oldest in Lithuania.
