In Vilnius’ Naujamiestis district, on Žemaitės Street, you can find one of the largest murals in Lithuania – a street art piece based on a concept by Lithuanian artist Algis Kriščiūnas and executed by mural painter Tadas Vincaitis. Covering an impressive 1,427 m², the artwork tells the story of modern city life and everyday technologies. The girl with a wireless earbud, inspired by Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, reminds us how deeply digital tools shape our routines. This colourful, highly Instagrammable mural has become a must-see spot for visitors interested in street art in Vilnius, creative photo locations and unique cultural experiences in the rapidly revitalising Naujamiestis area.

The Naujamiestis district of Vilnius is adorned with one of the most impressive examples of street art in Lithuania – a huge mural on Žemaitės Street, visible also from Skroblų Street. This work, based on a concept by well-known Lithuanian artist Algis Kriščiūnas and painted on the façade by experienced street artist Tadas Vincaitis, covers about 1,427 m², making it one of the largest murals in the country and a highlight of contemporary urban heritage in Vilnius. The mural reflects how strongly modern technologies are embedded in our everyday lives. Inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s iconic “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, Kriščiūnas replaces the pearl with a wireless earbud, transforming the classical figure into a symbol of today’s connected person. The artwork subtly comments on our dependence
on smartphones, the internet and digital services that shape work, leisure and communication. The project was initiated by “Bitė Lietuva”, a telecommunications company, and perfectly fits the changing face of Naujamiestis – a district where modern offices and innovative startups such as “Vinted” and “Nord Security” are located. The mural has quickly become a landmark for urban explorers, photographers, Instagram users and cultural tourists looking for alternative things to do in Vilnius. Today, this vibrant piece of Vilnius street art is a popular stop on thematic walks and tours about contemporary culture, creative neighbourhoods and technology in everyday life. It is an ideal place to discover a different side of Vilnius – colourful, modern and open to artistic experiments on city walls.
