Kalviai St. Anthony of Padua Church is one of only two round-shaped churches in Lithuania, the other being in Sudervė. These churches were designed following the example of Roman rotundas, with the most notable structure of this kind being the Pantheon in Rome (later converted into a church).
The church was consecrated in 1806, and its architect remains unknown.
The Kalviai Church is a beloved spot among local residents, newlyweds, and tourists.
The church's founder was Tomas Vavžeckis, a Lithuanian standard-bearer who led the insurgent army during Tadeusz Kościuszko's uprising near Warsaw in 1794.
Nearby is the largest lake in the region, with a well-maintained beach, a volleyball court, and a pavilion awaiting tourists.
