Eduard Vilde Monument in Tallinn

In Tallinn's Old Town, on Harju Street, in front of the Writers’ House, stands a monument to one of Estonia’s most renowned writers – Eduard Vilde. Unveiled in 1965 to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the pink dolomite sculpture depicts an open book. On one side is a bronze portrait of the writer and a quote about truth, beauty, and art; on the other – scenes from his historical trilogy. The work was created by sculptor Albert Eskel and architect Allan Murdmaa. This is a place where literature, history, and the quiet beauty of the city meet.
