The Kanuti Guild Hall, located on Pikk Street in Tallinn’s Old Town, was first mentioned in 1326. It grew out of three medieval buildings and was reconstructed in the mid-19th century into a representative Neo-Gothic palace. The façade features two sculptures – St. Canute, the patron of the guild, and reformer Martin Luther. Originally, it was a gathering place for craftsmen and merchants, later becoming a venue for cultural events. Plays, concerts, and the first puppet theatre performances were held here. Since 2001, the building has functioned as a center for contemporary dance and performance, hosting premieres, residencies, and festivals. Today, the Kanuti Guild Hall unites medieval heritage with the modern art scene, making it one of Tallinn’s key cultural venues.
