This modern church in Salacgrīva was built in 1997 (architect Dagnis Straubergs). Its construction began during the term of City Council Chairman Jānis Ramats, and completion was overseen by Mayor Uldis Pūsilds. The church became a major event for the community – on July 27, 1997, it was solemnly consecrated by Archbishop Jānis Pujats. The interior features a crucifix with a sculpture of Christ by Jānis Bārda, and mosaics “Maria Goretti” and “Václav Bridge” by artist Mairita Folkmane. Though a relatively young sanctuary, it quickly became significant for the faithful of Salacgrīva. Holy Mass is held on the first Sunday of each month and on the Saturday before the third Sunday at 3:00 PM. This church is a place where modern architecture meets the deep faith traditions of the community.
