The Tohvri coastal battery in Hiiumaa was built in 1939 after locals were evacuated. It included barracks, shelters, and storage, though some parts remained unfinished. In 1941, the first test shots were fired, but much of the artillery was later moved to Heltermaa and remaining ammunition destroyed. Three gun blocks survive today, along with machine gun bunkers and observation posts. After WWII, the site was briefly reused for training, then closed in 1958. Today, the area houses a care home, but many historical remains are still visible.
