Located off Estonia’s northwest coast, Osmussaar Island hosts a unique WWII military structure – the 13-meter concrete Fire Control Tower. Built in 1941, it was part of a Soviet coastal defense system. The island was taken over by the Soviet Army in 1940, and residents were evacuated. The tower was damaged by German artillery but later repaired.
