In the town of Suure-Jaani, near the lake and the former school building, stands a bronze bust of Paul Kondas, created by sculptor Aime Kuulbusch. Kondas (1900–1985) was one of Estonia’s most renowned naïve art painters, as well as a teacher and public figure. His most famous painting, “The Strawberry Eaters,” became an icon that inspired symbolic red strawberries in the city of Viljandi and guides visitors to the Kondas Center – a museum of naïve art. The bust serves as a meaningful symbol of cultural memory in Suure-Jaani.
