The Red Cliffs, also known as the Raiskums Cliffs, are a striking natural monument in Gauja National Park. These vivid red sandstone formations stretch for hundreds of meters along the right bank of the Gauja River, featuring dramatic cracks, niches, and small caves. Several springs flow from the cliffs, including the famous Rūcamavots, whose water bubbles with a characteristic rumble. A well-maintained 2 km circular trail winds around the cliffs, offering a close-up view of this natural wonder. At the trailhead, there’s a parking area, and along the way, visitors can enjoy a large-format painting exhibition inspired by the fairy tales of Kārlis Skalbe. It's a perfect spot for a nature walk and an inspiring outdoor escape.
