Grišku Hill, also known as Piebalga, Balga, or Veļķi Hillfort, is located just 0.3 km north of the ruins of Vecpiebalga Castle. Rising about 10 meters high, the hill features impressive slopes, artificially shaped terraces, and a deep defensive ditch. In the 13th century, this was an important settlement, with a cultural layer up to one meter thick left behind by historical events. During leafless seasons, the hill offers scenic views of the Vecpiebalga church and castle ruins. At the foot of the hill lies a spring called Griškavots, next to an old well. This site is a valuable archaeological and natural heritage location preserving the history of the Piebalga region.
