Located in the town of Priekuļi, the Field Crop Breeding Museum is a great place to explore the history of agricultural science in Latvia. The museum is housed in the historic Breeding Hall, which is recognized as a national cultural heritage site. Visitors can learn how new varieties of field crops – from grains and peas to potatoes – have been developed in Latvia over the past century. The exhibition features authentic tools, laboratory equipment, and documents that help explain the breeding process. In summer and autumn, the museum opens a window into the real world of breeders, inviting visitors to observe their work in the field. Tours are available on weekdays only and require advance registration.
