The Pärnu City Centre Bridge, also known as the Old Bridge, is a key transport structure connecting the city center and marking the beginning of the Tallinn Highway. Built in 1956 on the site of the former Great Bridge, it stands near the historical Leather and Wooden Bridges. The design was completed in 1948 in Leningrad, and construction began in 1954. The bridge features a 6-meter-wide roadway and two 1.7-meter sidewalks. Although a movable central span was planned, it was replaced with a heavy concrete slab to save resources, leaving the bridge permanently fixed. Due to wear, expansion was considered, but the decision was made to build a new bridge instead. It remains a significant historical and engineering landmark.
