A symbol of Klaipėda's industrial history, the gas factory established in the 19th century is one of the city's oldest industrial sites, reflecting the modernization of its economy. The impressive remaining architectural structures – a former red brick administrative building and two uniquely shaped octagonal gas storage tanks – embody the spirit of the early industrial age. Initially, the gas production facility provided lighting for the city, but its operations quickly expanded to include supplying households and factories. The complex also produced various chemicals and products that contributed to the region's industrial growth.
