The Martin Luther Cathedral in Daugavpils is one of the most prominent Neo-Gothic Protestant churches in Latvia, built in 1893 according to the design of architect Wilhelm Neumann. The red brick building, with its asymmetrical layout and single tower, stands out not only for its history but also for its significant architectural value.
The cathedral was heavily damaged by fires in 1941 and 1985, and during the Soviet era it was turned into a warehouse and later a sports hall. After being returned to the congregation in 1992, it regained its religious function and began restoration.
Today, the church features an altar created by designer Maija Avota and crafted by students from the Ogre Vocational School. One of the unique features is the observation deck in the tower, located at a height of 21.1 meters, offering an impressive panorama of Daugavpils’ Church Hill.
Entrance is by donation.
