The sculpture “The Boar” in Vepriai playfully reflects the town’s name origin, created in 2016 by sculptor Viktoras Žentelis. According to legend, “vepris” means “boar” in old Lithuanian. A tale tells of a squealing stone silenced when a nobleman passed by and said: “Why squeal like a boar?”
Now a symbolic landmark, the sculpture honors Vepriai’s identity, myths, and folklore. Located in the town center, it attracts tourists and locals alike—especially for the fun belief: rub the boar’s nose for good luck. A great spot for photos and local legend.
