Just 12 kilometers from Panevėžys, in the village of Uliūnai, stands the Church of the Ascension of Christ – a remarkable site of sacred tourism. Built in 1914, this brick sanctuary was established when the local community adapted a former grain warehouse for worship. Later, thanks to the initiative of priest Jonas Steponavičius, the church was renovated in 1932, and a tower made of stone and brick was constructed. In 1937, an organ was installed, and in 1940, the interior was beautifully decorated. In the churchyard, the first priest, writer Jonas Balvočius, is buried.
