Created in 2019 by renowned Latvian sculptor Gļebs Panteļejevs, the fountain is located at a key intersection—where Ganību, Jūras, and Kuldīgas streets meet—near the beloved “Whale” and “Sun Boat” fountains.
The “Umbrella” symbolizes safety, love, and unity. Its shape resembles an open umbrella sheltering from the rain—offering a cozy spot for couples, children, or passersby in search of rest. The nearby renovated Newspaper Alley encourages meetings, communication, and moments of relaxation.
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ventspils—perfect for family outings, romantic strolls, or memorable photos in the heart of the city.
