The facade of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre is adorned with an exceptional ensemble of sculptures consisting of ten sculptures, each 330 cm tall. Created in 1990, these sculptures depict characters from various operas and ballets, such as Othello, Aida, Eglė the Queen of Serpents, Boris Godunov, Mephistopheles, and other famous heroes from these works. The sculptors – renowned Lithuanian artists Juozas Kalinauskas, Jonas Naruševičius, and Antanas Žukauskas – have created a piece that perfectly captures the magic of opera and ballet genres. The sculptures were designed as a form of contemporary artistic expression that enriched the cultural landscape of Vilnius and became an integral part of the city's architectural identity. This project was realized between 1983 and 1989, and it is now one of the most important landmarks for both culture and art enthusiasts.
