Šiauliai St. George’s Church, built in 1909, was originally intended for the Russian army and was constructed on a plot of land belonging to Stanislava Venclauskienė without legal ownership rights, leading to a court case. After World War I, in 1919, the church was renovated and handed over to the Lithuanian army, but it soon became the property of the Ministry of National Defense. In the same year, the church was consecrated and given the title of St. George the Martyr.
In 1976, a fire destroyed the church's roof and towers, but it was rebuilt within nine months. Today, Šiauliai St. George’s Church remains an important historical and cultural landmark of the city.
