This historically valuable hillfort and ancient settlement are located in the Švenčionys district, near the village of Kavalčiukai, in the Strūnaitis eldership, just 0.08 km north of the confluence of the Strūna and Barškėtis rivers. Unique for its geographical location, the hillfort stands out with steep slopes approximately 10 meters high, surrounded by the valleys and marshes of the Strūna and Barškėtis rivers. The hill's shape and natural defensive features give this site exceptional archaeological and historical value. The trapezoidal-shaped summit of the hillfort
measures 64 meters in length, with a width of about 30 meters at the western end and approximately 17 meters at the eastern end. A cultural layer up to 0.3 meters thick has been discovered on the platform, indicating human activity. Traces of an ancient settlement, evidenced by cultural layers, have been found at the northern and northwestern foothills, suggesting the presence of an ancient settlement dating back to the first millennium. This site is a valuable archaeological and historical object, important for the research of our region's past and cultural heritage.
