The Independence Monument "Žemaitis" in Raseiniai, built in 1934, is a symbol of the city, located in the central square. Sculptor Vincas Grybas created this monument to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Lithuania's independence. The monument depicts a peasant from Žemaitija pressing down the symbol of Žemaitija – a bear. On the pedestal, there are three bas-reliefs reflecting the years of the Independence struggles and the return of the Klaipėda region to Lithuania.
