Labanoras Church

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Labanoras was first recorded in the list of churches of the Vilnius Diocese in 1522. By 1675, it had become notable for housing a miraculous painting of the Sorrowful Mother Mary. Although the first church was destroyed by fire in 1798, it was rebuilt between 1818 and 1820 through the efforts of the community. It is believed that the bell tower was also constructed along with the church in the 19th century.

restoration: the facade was renewed, wooden details were restored, and the old roof was replaced with an authentic shingle-covered roof. The steeples were restored and covered with copper sheeting, and the foundations were repaired. However, on December 21 of the same year, shortly after midnight, the church burned down again, leaving only the bell tower untouched. Undeterred, the community rebuilt the church by September 10, 2011, demonstrating strong determination and unity in the face of adversity.
