Šalčininkai I Reservoir is an artificial body of water located in the center of Šalčininkai town, in the Šalčininkai district. It was created by damming the Šalčia River, a tributary of the Merkys River, 86.4 km from its mouth. The reservoir stretches 0.53 km from north to south, with a width of up to 0.13 km. The water body features a 0.43-hectare island, connected to the western shore by a footbridge, offering additional recreational opportunities. The reservoir is surrounded by low shores, bordered by meadows, creating a peaceful environment for relaxation. This site is popular among locals and tourists seeking tranquility in nature. Nearby, there is also the Šalčininkai II Reservoir, located 0.47 km to the north, upstream.
