The Kernavė Hillforts form a unique archaeological complex that unveils the secrets of Lithuania's prehistoric and medieval settlements. The site includes hillforts (Aukuro Hill, Mindaugas' Throne, Lizdeikos Hill, and Castle Hill), a settlement at the foot of the hills, and burial sites. Since 1979, archaeological research has been conducted here, making Kernavė one of the best-studied ancient Lithuanian settlements.
In 1988, the Kernavė Archaeological and Historical Museum-Reserve was established, and in 2004, the area was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is a unique place to experience the spirit of history and enjoy breathtaking landscapes.
