Baltadvaris Castle is a bastion-type fortress located in Molėtai District, near Videniškiai, on the banks of the Siesartis River. In the late 16th century, it was reinforced by the Vilnius Deputy Governor Matas Giedraitis and his son, Mstislavl Voivode Martynas Giedraitis, to ensure the security of ancient trade and military routes. The castle complex consisted of two two-story masonry buildings with a gate, underground storage facilities within the ramparts, and wooden residential and farm structures.
At the beginning of the 17th century, a manor house was built north of the castle, accompanied by a Renaissance-style garden, and the fortress gradually lost its defensive function. The complex was remodeled, with the main building plastered, and the site became known as Baltadvaris. Today, the ruins stand as a testament to the castle’s former grandeur, inviting visitors to explore Lithuania’s rich history in the scenic surroundings of the Siesartis River.
