The Ninth Fort is one of the defensive fortifications of the Kaunas Fortress, now a significant historical and architectural monument. The museum located here offers a unique opportunity to explore the intricate military architecture of the Kaunas Fortress, as well as weaponry and equipment from World War I. Visitors can examine the interior of defensive walls and posterns, guided by experienced tour guides. The museum reveals the dramatic history of the 20th century, including the operations of the Kaunas Hard Labor Prison branch, NKVD repressions, Nazi crimes, the history of the Kaunas Ghetto,

and the tragic fate of Lithuanian Jews. In the preserved prisoner cells, visitors can still see the final inscriptions left by the inmates. A striking 32-meter-high sculptural monument, created by sculptor Alfonsas Ambraziūnas, commemorates the site of mass executions. The Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum offers an enriching and educational experience for both individual visitors and organized groups. It hosts guided tours, historical commemorations, educational programs, and provides access to audio and video guides. This is a place to not only learn about history but also to honor its victims.
