Built at the end of the 18th century, Taujėnai Manor is one of the most distinguished classical manors in Lithuania. The construction was initiated by Count Benediktas Morikonis, and the palace was designed by the Italian architect Pietro de Rosis. In the 19th century, the manor was famous for its luxurious interiors, rich library, and art collections.

The manor’s owners, the Radziwiłł family, hosted notable guests here, including Tsar Alexander I of Russia and President Antanas Smetona. After World War II, the palace was damaged and during the Soviet era, it was used for collective farm purposes.

In the last decade, the manor has been revived – the palace, park, and 200-year-old barn have been restored. Today, Taujėnai Manor is once again open to visitors, offering a chance to explore its grand history.

Taujėnai Manor, mentioned as early as the 16th century, was owned by various noble families: the Nonharts, Masalskiai, Eperjesai, and eventually the Radziwiłłs. At the end of the 18th century, the current classical-style palace was built by Count Benediktas Morikonis, and its architectural design was prepared by the Italian-born architect Pietro de Rosis. It is believed that the one-story wings were added after the count's death. In the 19th century, the palace’s interior was distinguished by luxury – it featured family portraits, sculptures, ancient weapons, hunting trophies, and a valuable library. Surrounding the manor is a 25-hectare English-style park with old oaks and restored pond cascades.
Tsar Alexander I of Russia visited the manor twice, in 1812 and 1814. After Count Benediktas Morikonis’ death, the manor returned to the Nesvizh Radziwiłł family. It was later owned by Karolis Radziwiłł, followed by his son Konstantinas, who was exiled in 1940. During the Soviet era, the manor was used as part of a collective farm, its interior deteriorated, and for a long time, the manor estate, which had been abandoned, nearly disappeared. In the last decade, the manor has regained its grandeur – private owners restored the palace, renovated the park, and revived the old barn, which is over 200 years old. Today, Taujėnai Manor once again invites visitors to explore its majestic past.
