Būtingė Oak is one of the most impressive natural heritage sites in the Palanga Municipality. This 19-meter-high oak, with a trunk circumference of 3.90 meters, symbolizes the ancient history and culture of the Balts. It stands alone at the former Čimpos homestead site, attracting visitors with its mystical aura.
Near the oak, there once flowed a spring known as "Čimpos avots." On Easter morning, locals would gather here to perform ancient rituals associated with the Curonian sacred sites. The Būtingė area is located in the inter-dune wilderness between the lands of Mėguva and Duvzarė, once known as a place of the dead and a cult site. This natural wonder is an excellent place to explore history and enjoy the seaside nature.
