Near the Panevėžys sewage treatment plant, in the village of Papušiai, stands the decorative sculpture "Nevėžis" created by Bernardo Bučas. This sculpture, specifically designed for Panevėžys, was not placed in the intended location in the city center for unknown reasons. In 1972, the city executive committee unexpectedly decided to abandon its installation, and in its place, another sculpture, "Earth-Mother-Peace," was erected in 1974.
Despite this, "Nevėžis" eventually found its place – in 1979, through the initiative of a few individuals, it was installed near the administrative building of the sewage treatment plant. This unusual location gives the sculpture a distinct character and also reflects the twists of the city's history and the creators' persistence.
