Gedimino Castle Tower is an inseparable symbol of Vilnius, visible from many parts of the Old Town and often depicted in works of art. From the top of Gediminas Hill or the observation platform, a breathtaking panorama of Vilnius unfolds: red rooftops, church spires, and a maze of narrow streets. The tower houses a branch of the National Museum of Lithuania, offering insight into the history of Vilnius as a political center, the development of its castles, and battles with the Teutonic Knights. Here, visitors can view reconstructions of the old castles, weaponry, and iconography, while modern exhibitions evoke historical moments, such as the spirit of the Baltic Way. This tower is a symbol not only of Vilnius but of the identity of Lithuania as a whole.

Gedimino Castle Tower, situated on Gediminas Hill, is the only surviving fortification tower of the Upper Castle and one of Vilnius' most important symbols. According to legend, Grand Duke Gediminas dreamt of the Iron Wolf here, which foretold the birth of a mighty city. In the 14th century, a wooden castle stood on this site, and in 1409, Grand Duke Vytautas built a stone castle, which eventually lost its military significance. Today, Gedimino Tower houses a branch of the National Museum of Lithuania. Visitors can explore a historical exhibition showcasing models of the Vilnius castles, Baltic jewelry, weaponry, and
iconography. Interactive displays allow visitors to experience Teutonic invasions, the growth of the city during the Renaissance, and historical panoramas. A special area is dedicated to the Baltic Way – the historic manifestation in 1989 when people joined hands to connect Vilnius with Tallinn. It is an emotional experience that inspires the spirit of freedom. Climbing to the observation platform reveals the beauty of Vilnius – red roofs, churches, and winding rivers. The Lithuanian flag fluttering above the tower reminds that Gedimino Castle Tower is not only a symbol of Vilnius but of the entire nation.
